Kirk Hanna Cattlemen’s Leadership College

The Colorado Cattlemen's Association (CCA) would like to invite you to participate in the Kirk Hanna Cattlemen’s Leadership College (KHCLC).  The goal of KHCLC is to provide educational tools and information that can help individuals become active leaders in Colorado’s cattle industry through their local affiliates and through CCA.

Much thought has gone into next year’s program as we have made an effort to more thoroughly engage participants in state issues and CCA events.  The six-day training will take place throughout the year, and will involve meeting with industry front-line organizations such as the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Colorado Cattlemen’s Agricultural Land Trust, and participation in a CCA Board of Directors meeting.  Part of the leadership conference will involve visiting the state’s Capitol building where participants will tour, observe session proceedings, committee meetings, and receive a legislative briefing.  The Capitol tour will also involve a Legislative Lunch where participants will meet and have lunch with their legislators and listen to a legislative review.

The KHCLC will kick off in January.

  • January 19-20: Attend a CCA board meeting and exposure to legislative proceedings at the State Capitol
  • April 21: Learn about industry issues from speakers from the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, The Colorado Department of Agriculture, United States Meat Export Federation, CSU Cooperative Extension, etc.
  • June 14-16: Participate in CCA’s Annual Convention in Pueblo.

The cost of attending KHCLC is $200/person.  However, participants will be receiving approximately $800.00 each in value as meals, hotels, convention registration fees, and educational material will be provided for them.  Local CCA affiliates have been strong supporters of KHCLC, so we encourage participants to look to their local affiliates to sponsor some of the cost for those who wish to attend.

Please submit applications to the CCA office by December 18, 2009.

We look forward to this year’s program and are excited to welcome participants to the Kirk Hanna Cattlemen’s Leadership College.  We hope that you will strongly consider our invitation.  If you have any questions, please contact Beka Gill at (303)-431-6422.
