Title: 142nd Annual Convention & Trade Show

ARVADA, Colo. May 11, 2009 – The Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (CCA), Colorado CattleWomen, Inc. (CCW) and Junior Colorado Cattlemen’s Association (JCCA) will be gathering during the 2009 Annual Convention to be updated on industry topics, shape policy for the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association, and gather for a few days of sun and fun in Grand Junction, Colo.

Join us for the CCA Steering Committee meetings held Monday, June 15. Help shape the policy that drives the future of Colorado’s cattle industry. CCA’s committees will be addressing issues such as a Colorado Beef Industry Check-off Increase Task Force, current Congressional considerations of estate tax for agriculture producers, and legislation considered during the 2009 Legislative Session.

Stick around after the committee meetings to meet old and new friends for an evening of fun at the Welcome Reception on the trade show floor. We’ll be having hors d’oeuvres, a poker run and tons of prizes!

We’re not done yet! Tuesday, June 16 will be filled with educational information and our first ever Cattle Crawl. The morning will kick off with our Cattlemen’s College featuring Lt. Colonel Sam Barringer with Pfizer Animal Health.

Speaker Sessions will wrap up the morning where we have invited Ken Salazar, Secretary, U.S. Department of the Interior. We will also hear from experts in the beef industry such as Forrest Roberts, CEO National Cattlemen’s Beef Association; and laugh along with Jim Whitt as he presents “Riding for the CCA Brand.”

But that’s not all. Following lunch on Tuesday, we will hold our first ever Cattle Crawl. Members and guests will start out at Cross Orchards for dessert and tour of this interesting museum. Then they will have the opportunity to see some of Grand Junction’s wine country with a tour to a winery. The afternoon will finish off back at the convention center for a relaxing dinner after a fun-filled day.

Let your voice be heard at CCA’s business meeting on Wednesday, June 17. This meeting exemplifies CCA’s grassroots connection. CCA members will consider and vote on proposed policy resolutions and also cast their votes for the 2009-2010 CCA Board of Directors. Be sure to attend this important event to help develop the policies that guide YOUR FUTURE!

The 2009 CCA/CCW/JCCA Annual Convention will be held at the Two Rivers Convention Center in Grand Junction, Colo., June 15-17.  Individuals still have time to register for this “must attend” event by referring to the April issue of Cattle Guard or by contacting the CCA office at (303) 431-6422 or info@coloradocattle.org, by June 4th for the pre-registration rates.  For hotel reservations, contact the Hampton Inn at 1-800-307-5678 and ask for the Colorado Cattlemen's Association group block by May 15th.
